    Music Rising

I’m a big fan of all types of music…. Many of you know that I’m a big fan of the rock band U2. Bono, the front man for U2 is well known for his political agenda and efforts to help people of Africa.

Recently the Edge (U2’s guirtarts), has down some charitable work of his own to help the musicians affected by the devastation to the Gulf Coast of the US last year. He’s part of the Music Rising program to replace instruments for musicians of the Gulf Coast.

A few years ago I spent a few days in New Orleans and by chance walking around the French Quarter one night found Preservation Jazz Hall and ended up spending several hours there enjoying New Orleans jazz and other music from the region.

The Edge helped to reopen the Preservation Jazz Hall in New Orleans on April 28 with the help of Music Rising, he took part in the opening by joining with the band to do a Ragtime version of Vertigo. Who knew Vertigo could translate so well among the different genres of music? It's the middle video on MSN's recap of the New Orleans Jazz Fest.
