    Online GIS

The final section of the plenary focused on Online.

Deane K (ArcGIS Online Manager) introduced ArcGIS Online services as...

    • Ready to use Maps and Globes (2D and 3D)
    • Use in ArcGIS Desktop
    • Build custom applications
    • Task (Functions)
      • Place Finder
      • Address Matching
      • Routing

ArcGIS Desktop has come with DVDs of Maps and Data for years, now with ArcGIS Online you can quickly enhance a map by using some of the Online maps and data.  The map document with the ArcGIS Online data can then be published by ArcGIS Server and used by varies clients.

ArcWeb was up next, Jim K (ArcWeb Manager) focused on the advantages of ArcWeb for developers.  ArcWeb has several APIs for developers

    • SOAP
    • REST
    • JavaScript

The demo showed off the REST API to ArcWeb and a sleek demo of a dynamic Map Book (I want that demo as it looks great!)

Sessions start up after lunch but I'll try and update later tonight.
